This January, the Union of Maine Visual Artists (UMVA) kicks off 2023 with a new group exhibition entitled “Resurgence” at the Granite Gallery in Camden. Showcasing works by nineteen UMVA member artists, this vibrant show celebrates the renewal of creativity and community as we emerge from challenging times.
The exhibited pieces depict themes of rebirth, regrowth, and revival using a diverse array of styles and mediums. From Jill Caldwell’s abstract resin paintings to Bonnie Farmer’s mixed media fiber artworks, the show conveys uplifting messages of hope and regeneration. After years of disruption and isolation, these artists reflect the enduring resiliency of human imagination and connection.
In coordination with the exhibit, UMVA will host a series of receptions and artist talks in January and February highlighting member talents. These events offer chances to meet the creators, learn their stories, and gain insights into how art can provide catharsis and joy after hardship.
UMVA’s “Resurgence” brings vibrancy and optimism to the new year through the work of 19 distinguished regional artists. On view from January 7th through February 12th in Camden, this invigorating show provides inspiration as we emerge renewed from the challenges of recent times.
