This May, the Union of Maine Visual Artists (UMVA) Gallery presents “Transformative Visions,” an exhibition celebrating regional artists who are boldly expanding the boundaries of contemporary painting. Work from twelve boundary-pushing Maine-based talents will be on display, demonstrating the vitality and fearless creativity thriving within the local arts scene.
The collection of pieces ranges from Sue Pederson’s abstract geometric canvases to Matt Blackwell’s evocative figural paintings incorporating mixed media elements. Despite their diverse styles, all included artists share a spirit of experimentation and expressive freedom. Their contributions to “Transformative Visions” promise to challenge perceptions and reveal the expressive possibilities of painting.
In line with UMVA’s objective of enriching regional arts culture, this exhibit provides wider exposure for some of Maine’s most innovative creators. It also strengthens connections within the local artist community by bringing together both emerging and established voices.
By pushing the envelope of artistic expression, the painters featured in “Transformative Visions” exemplify the intrepid creative spirit of the Northeast. UMVA is proud to host this inspiring showcase, on view from May 5th to 27th.
