This August, Salt Pond Studio and Gallery in Boothbay Harbor is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings by Maine artist Abby Carter. The show entitled “Coastal Impressions” will showcase Carter’s vibrant acrylic landscapes inspired by the Midcoast.
Carter is known for her distinctive contemporary painting style using bold colors and energetic brushwork. Her pieces capture the movement and changing light in seascapes and marsh scenes. She expertly translates the fleeting nuances of nature into vivid pigments.
“We’re excited to exhibit Abby’s latest body of work focused on the local salt ponds and harbors she loves,” said gallery owner Michelle Leonard. “Her passionate style brings so much life and motion to the canvas.”
An opening reception will take place on August 5th from 5-7pm. Carter will be present to meet guests and share insights into her artistic process. The show will remain on display through the end of August.
Based in Damariscotta, Carter often paints small studies outdoors before developing them into larger studio pieces. Her work balances realism with expressive interpretation. She masterfully captures both the colors and feelings of Maine’s coastline.
