This June, Salt Pond Studio in Rhode Island will host the group exhibition “Black Bird,” spotlighting thought-provoking works by twelve promising emerging artists. This multifaceted show takes inspiration from the eponymous song by the Beatles, using “bird” as a springboard to explore ideas of freedom, communication, environment, and more through a dynamic array of mediums.
Curated by gallery owner Sierra Dunn, “Black Bird” brings together rising talents from across the country, including painters, photographers, sculptors, and mixed media artists. Some employ abstraction and others figurative approaches, but all focus on conveying inventive concepts related to the exhibit’s bird theme. From migration and extinction to flights of fancy and transcendence, these artists’ unique perspectives are bound to give visitors much to ponder.
In keeping with the studio’s commitment to launching new voices, this exhibit provides a platform for creatives who are historically underrepresented to share their visions with a wider audience. The diversity of backgrounds and identities among the group enriches the show with multifaceted depictions of its central motif.
By showcasing twelve promising talents through the unifying lens of “Black Bird,” this show offers a chance to discover emerging artists and appreciate the boundless creativity they bring to contemporary art. The exhibit runs from June 10th through the 30th.
