This August, acclaimed painter Greg Mort will open his scenic studio in Port Clyde, Maine to the public for his annual Open Studio event. On Saturday, August 6th from 10am to 4pm, visitors will have the opportunity to engage with Mort and view his latest oil paintings.
Mort is known for his vivid depictions of the Maine coastline en plein air. His impressionist style uses loose, broken brushwork to capture the movement of wind, water, and light. For this Open Studio, Mort will showcase new pieces focusing on summer in Port Clyde.
“I’m looking forward to welcoming guests into the working studio where I draw inspiration from the harbor just outside,” said Mort. “It’s a privilege to share my creative process.”
In addition to viewing Mort’s new body of work, attendees can observe the artist at work during live painting demonstrations. Mort will provide insight into his methods for translating the fleeting nuances of seascapes into oil pigments.
Mort’s Port Clyde studio is located above the Red Fish restaurant at 41 Hupper Island Road. Parking is available nearby. Attendance is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
