Artists Unite for Benefit Exhibition Supporting Maine Lobstermen’s Community Alliance

This August, a group of Maine artists are banding together to present a special benefit exhibition in support of the Maine Lobstermen’s Community Alliance (MLCA). Hosted at the Granary Gallery in Rockland, this fundraising showcase aims to help the MLCA continue its advocacy work for Maine’s lobster industry.

Featuring over 20 artists working in a range of media, the exhibition will include paintings, photographs, jewelry, ceramics, and more. Contributing artists include acclaimed names like David Vickery, Bonnie Farmer, and Wade Zahares as well as emerging talents.

“We appreciate these generous artists using their work to aid an organization so vital to coastal communities,” said gallery owner Susan Porter. She hopes the compelling mix of artwork attracts strong attendance and auction sales.

Founded in 2013, the MLCA provides a collective voice to promote and protect the state’s lobster fishery. Funds from the Granary Gallery exhibition will specifically support the MLCA’s appeals against new federal lobstering regulations.

The benefit exhibition runs August 5-28, with an opening reception Friday, August 5 from 5-8pm. A silent auction will allow visitors to bid on donated artworks.
