On July 16th at 3pm, Left Bank Books in Belfast will host acclaimed nonfiction author Sy Montgomery for a reading and audience Q&A. Montgomery will share selections from her latest release, The Disappearance of Lyndie B. Hawkins, before taking questions on her prolific career writing about the natural world.

Based in New Hampshire, Montgomery has authored over 20 books exploring the lives of animals, from pink dolphins to great white sharks. Her bestseller The Soul of an Octopus highlighted the surprising intelligence of octopuses. Montgomery’s deep curiosity and gift for storytelling bring diverse species to life on the page.

According to bookstore owner Annie Paige, the shop is honored to host a writer with such broad appeal. “Sy’s ability to connect readers to animals through compelling narratives is unparalleled,” said Paige.

Montgomery’s new novel The Disappearance of Lyndie B. Hawkins follows a girl’s coming-of-age through her friendship with a flock of geese. Written for middle grade readers, the book promises Montgomery’s signature insight and warmth. The reading will provide a special opportunity to hear Montgomery’s vivid prose firsthand.
