This August, Arts in the Barn in Boothbay, Maine is pleased to present “Mainely Different,” a special two-person exhibition featuring the artwork of Tracey Medeiros and her son Matthew Medeiros. The show will run from August 5th through the 28th.
Though related, Tracey and Matthew each have their own distinctive style. Tracey’s paintings feature bold, expressive Maine landscapes interpreted through vibrant color. Matthew’s mixed media sculptures incorporate found objects and repurposed materials from the Maine outdoors.
“By exhibiting these two artists together, visitors can appreciate the range of contemporary art being created in Maine,” said gallery owner Timothy Banks. “Their creative perspectives are alike yet unique.”
An opening reception will take place on August 5th from 5-7pm. Tracey and Matthew will be in attendance to meet guests and answer questions about their work.Tracey, based in Bath, often paints en plein air, later developing her small studies into larger studio pieces. Matthew crafts abstract organic forms highlighting natural entropy and change. Though their styles differ, Maine inspires them both.
With its creative combination of 2D and 3D artwork, “Mainely Different” promises to engage viewers throughout its August run. Arts in the Barn looks forward to hosting this talented mother-son duo.
