This August, Arts In The Barn in Boothbay is pleased to host an art show featuring the work of Mary Ann Heinzen and Gwen Sylvester. The exhibition will run from August 12th through the 28th.
Heinzen works in pastel and oil paint to capture the striking landscapes of Maine. Her pieces range from sweeping coastal vistas to intimate forest scenes. Sylvester’s acrylic paintings focus on abstract interpretations of nature. She layers colors and textures to suggest elements like water, stone, and foliage.
“We’re excited to showcase these two esteemed regional artists side-by-side,” said gallery owner Timothy Banks. “Their styles provide very different ways of engaging with the natural environment.”
An opening reception on August 12th from 4-6pm will allow guests to meet Heinzen and Sylvester in person. The artists will be on hand to answer questions about their work and artistic process.
Heinzen, based in Bristol, is inspired by the rural charms of Midcoast Maine. Her pastoral landscapes evoke the tranquility she finds painting en plein air. Sylvester’s work conveys the energy and mystery of nature through bold colors and abstract forms.
By presenting both representational and abstract approaches, this two-person show explores the diverse creativity inspired by the Maine landscape. Arts in the Barn welcomes all to experience these unique interpretations this August.
